This privacy policy explains how Firearm Legal Insurance ("we", "us") collects, uses, stores, shares and protects your personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

1. Information we collect

When you submit an enquiry or apply for cover, we collect:

• Identifying information: full name, ID number, residential address.
• Contact information: cell phone number, email address.
• Banking information needed to set up your debit order.
• Information about your firearm licence and cover preferences.
• Technical information: IP address, browser type, pages visited, captured via cookies and analytics tools.

2. How we use your information

• To assess and process your application for cover.
• To administer your policy, collect premiums and handle claims.
• To contact you about your policy by phone, email or SMS.
• To send you information about related products and offers, only if you have consented (you can withdraw consent at any time).
• To meet our legal, regulatory and audit obligations.
• To improve the website and detect fraud or abuse.

3. Who we share it with

We share your information only with:

• The underwriter, GENRIC Insurance Company Limited (FSP 43638), and any of its sub-contracted claims handlers.
• The administering financial services provider, [Your FSP Entity] (FSP XXXXX).
• Attorneys on the panel if and when a legal matter is opened.
• Service providers who help us run the business (payment processors, hosting, email, customer support tooling) under written confidentiality terms.
• Regulators and law enforcement where we are legally required to.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Your rights under POPIA

• To know what information we hold about you and request a copy.
• To ask us to correct or update inaccurate information.
• To withdraw your consent to direct marketing at any time by emailing hello@firearmlegalinsurance.co.za.
• To object to processing on legitimate grounds.
• To complain to the Information Regulator if you believe we have breached POPIA.

5. Security and retention

We use industry-standard technical and organisational measures (TLS in transit, encrypted databases, access controls) to protect your information. We retain your information for as long as you remain a policyholder and for the period required by tax, insurance and FAIS record-keeping rules, typically five years after the policy ends.

6. Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and tags from Meta and Google to measure ad performance and improve the site. You can control these via your browser settings. Disabling them does not affect your ability to apply for or use the policy.
